R.I.P. Dj Am

Shitty times

Beginning of summer, we lost the dude that made us dance when we were young and last night, we lost the dude that makes us dance today. DJ Am (Adam Goldstein) was found dead in his apartment in NYC yesterday evening to what seems to be a drug overdose. I first heard of him as the "celebrity DJ" mostly DJ'ing parties in Hollywood but it was last year when he hooked up with Travis Barker from Blink 182 that I first heard of some of the best mixes and mash-up ever. Travis and DJ Am released two mixes to date and both are available as free downloads on their site, just click on the link below to get the mixes.

It's just sad how much drugs can take control... DJ Am had just finished shooting a reality show for MTV called "Gone Too Far" about helping families have interventions with their children suffering from drug addiction. After claiming being drug free for years, the past found a wicked way to haunt him.

Adam Goldstein was 36.

Eaten by the Pop-Corn Monster: My Fall Movie Preview

Might still be early mind you today's weather was intense but nonetheless here is my movie preview for fall and winter 2009 because we all know that eventually the leaves will fall and so will the weather, then followed by the snow, so here are some very interesting movies that will keep us busy while the world falls apart around us ;-)

For Starters, here are some pics from the NEW James Cameron movie titled Avatar. This is Cameron's first movie since Titanic, expectations are high for this one seeing that he has waited 14 years on this project for the technology to catch up with his vision. This movie is planned to be in full 3D with special camera's made just for this. Below are a few screenshots.

Second movie on my list is a children's classic, based on Maurice Sendak's book, Spike Jonze spins his take on the story and although the release date was put back on numerous occasion speculating that the movie was becoming a gigantic task and could possibly fail, take a look at theses pics and watch the trailer. You'll enjoy it.

If you haven't seen Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Royal Tenembaums or The Life Aquatic, then make a movie and watch all four before rushing out this fall to see Wes Anderson's latest magical movie. This time changing things around and using classic stop motion animation to tell his story about the Fantastic Mr. Fox, voiced by George Clooney and also stars Jason Scwartzman and Bill Murray.

Click HERE for the FANTASTIC MR. FOX Trailer.

It's been a while since we had a bizarre comedy in the likes of Napoleon Dynamite. Director Jared Hess decided that it was time for us to get another glimpse of his bizarre universe in his latest comedy called Gentlemen Broncos. It's about a home school young man who gets his story ripped off by a science fiction writer named Ronald Chevalier (played by Jermain Clement from Flight of the Conchords). Judging by these pics and the trailer, this will be classic.

After years of remaining quiet but yet still very busy (District 9, Tintin, the Hobbit) Peter Jackson is back at doing what he does best and that's directing supernatural thrillers, not since The Frighteners in 1996 has Peter Jackson touched the subject. Here he is with The Lovely Bones. Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Alice Sebold, about a young girl who is murdered and decides to helps her family find her killer from heaven.... I'm ruining it by explaining it this way, just look at the screenshots and trailer and you'll get a better idea.

Just a mention, I found all these trailers on Apple's website, get the latest Quicktime to enjoy them all in HD.

Enjoy :-)

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

More From Warped Tour...

Ok

So I decided to put up the remaining Warped Tour '09 pics just to get them out there... seeing that I missed some good shows as of lately, figured I'd annoy you all with my final pics from Warped Tour '09.

First off, this is a pic of Rob Dyer, you may not know him and he's not in your favorite band, but this guy is fucking cool. Sadly he lost both his grandmothers and his mother to cancer. With all of this loss came great inspiration. Rob started Skate4Cancer and decided to cross the United States and Canada on his skateboard to spread his message. If you ever get the chance to meet him, he'll treat you like you already know him, he'll be your friend. Also if you meet him, buy his merch, my buddy Andrew and I bought 4 t-shirt between us for 5 dollars a t-shirt.

Head on over to Skate4Cancer for more info on the cause.

Here is a pic of Tatiana DeMaria, lead singer of the English punk band called TaT, she was really cool and really easy to talk to, I took this pic of her representing her sick MJ t-shirt. Note, this is my favorite Warped Tour pic...

Here are the rest of the pic that I took of the Gallows, just thought I'd get them all out there ;-)

Warped Tour crowd....
....
... nuff said.

Finally here are some pics of Washington's finest Metalcore band, Abacabb. Check them out, there not just your ordinary "thud, thud thud" band, they are really tight and intense.
