MICHAEL JACKSON 1958-2009

I've been sitting here on my balcony watching clip after clip of Michael Jackson, trying to understand the spark that he created with the world. Everyone loved him including myself but yet I still feel the need to remember everything that he did, EVERYTHING. I as most of you grew up to his music, my first vinyl was the BAD album, and I thought that Michael Jackson was the "coolest" baddest cat in town. The album Thriller still to this day is the album that has sold the most in the world, everyone knows someone that owns a copy of it. Although his colour of skin did change later on in his career the man did fuse together both whites and blacks and had everyone dancing to the same beat.

I still agree that he was damaged at a young age, when most people grew up, he remained as young as Peter Pan, I guess now Michael Jackson has moved on to his second star to the left, and straight on till morning.

For up to the minute info, I'd head over to TMZ

Here is one of the best clips that I could find, enjoy it, watch him dance!

Sucks to be the Eiffel Tower in Hollywood 2009

I've noticed a growing trend in movies this year and I just hope that it's a coincidence and that none of it should be taken seriously, but lets be clear, it sucks to be the Eiffel Tower in cinema this year. Most of the times when you see the Eiffel Tower in a movie, it's to capture the Hollywood essence and sensation of Paris, the city of love. But in 3 of this years summer "blockbusters", love takes a back seat to acid bombs (from G.I. Joe) knocking the tower over, or to a giant plane escaping the ball of fire eating away Paris all while clipping off the top of the Eiffel Tower (2012) and to finally Transformers 2, well they don't actually blow it up from what I've seen in the trailers but it's still pretty darn close judging from the pictures below.

If all of this is true then you have a better chance of dying near the Eiffel Tower then getting struck by lightning... think about it!

The Greatest of All Time

There is a interesting feature on Empire's website with a list of the 100 greatest Video Games of all time, some are new, some are retro and some without their existence, we wouldn't have such current favorites, below are some pics of some of my old time favorites in no particular order.

But click HERE and have a look at the list for yourselves.

In a Galaxy Far Far Away (spring/summer 2010)

It's like as if Adidas decided to make a collection just for me! But seriously folks, Star Wars will be getting the Adidas treatment come Spring and Summer 2010... Damn! it's still not technically summer yet and I'm already stoked for this collection! It should be good, one can only imagine how sick the collection will be, a Vader vest with 3 blood red stripes on the arms, Yoda Zx's, gold colored C3P0 Superstars...

From Norway with Love

I have seen some messed up things in my life and tonight was pretty crazy. I got to see Norvegian Death Metal "cult classic" act Mayhem on what was the last date on their 25th anniversary tour. Being used to seeing punk, rock and hardcore shows, this was not the place to be picking up chicks, unless your into chicks that will knock you on your ass in the mosh pit. It was really intense but otherwise interesting. If you don't know anything about Mayhem then click HERE to get the full story, really worth the read.

Also I was a little sketch to bring my camera along so here are the only pics that I got with my iPhone.

Oh and the opening act, the singer cut his chest open with a blade, otherwise it was business as usual for Death Metalers :-S

Ripples on a blank page

It's been a year already and to some (including myself) it was a strange show, emotionally but still it's been a year since I saw Radiohead with the Lady at Bercy in Paris and I just remember it being a nice sunny day, it was also the first day of the Euro and my first time in Europe for a European Football championship. I just remember their being a good vibe in the air... and it was mega sunny and nice that day. That's what I remember, and here is a clip of Radiohead performing Reckoner live in Japan.

Watch and learn.

Well I guess this is growing up!

For those of you who have your tickets, then enjoy this and prepare for a kick ass show this summer, for those of you with no ticket... enjoy it anyways, this video is good times either way! This is Blink 182 performing Dammit live on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

Enjoy!

Mi Adidas

Hey

I'm off to Paris in just over a month, my home away from home is just around the corner :-)
Fun thing that I have planned is shopping and I'll be going to no other than my former corner shop where I used to work called Adidas on Les Champs Elysees. I want to make myself a new pair of shoes cuz with Adidas you can do that. It's called MiAdidas and they offer you the chance to make your own custom made shoes, I already own 4 pairs but since late last year, Adidas decide to make their Originals collection as part of the custom shoes you can design. I went on the website tonight to get a idea of what I can do, below are a few results. I'm undecided so please comment and give me your thoughts, or even go to MIADIDAS and custom make your own, so far it's not available in Canada but if you have a American address you can have them shipped there.

Greatest Movies of all time

Here is a first of possibly many entries in my new segment titled, The Greatest Movies of all time. I recently purchased the latest Empire movie magazine (my love for that magazine deserves it's own post... to be continued) with guest editor Steven Spielberg. After spending the week end watching awful movies, I figured the timing was appropriate to sit down and watch a modern Spielberg classic, Saving Private Ryan.

With June 6th being a important day in 1944, I figured watching this movie would be fitting. It only takes 3 minutes into the film and already your getting a 30 second warning from the U-boat captain preparing you and the rest of the troops to hit the beach. Spielberg worked with Polish cinematographer Janusz Kaminski (who has worked with him since) to really get down and dirty in the beaches of hell. You spend the first 30 minutes of the film in hell on the beach with Capt. Miller (played by Tom Hanks) and him and his troops fighting to take control of Omaha beach.

The story then follows the rescue mission of Private Ryan who wins a ticket home by the unfortunate death of his 3 other brothers. This brings Capt. Miller and his troops to wander through the heart of occupied France in search of Private Ryan.

10 years on, this movie still gives me shivers at certain points, I'm at once amazed and yet sadden by the fact that this happen to these men, war was ever so present and it's because of these men, may they be American (like in the movie) or British or Canadian, these men were pushed to limits that I hope we will never see again. Spielberg's movie will take us as close as ever to the realities of hopefully the last World War. With the memories of June 6th 1944 still fresh for some, then this is really worth the watch.

Johnny and his Cupcakes

I've been wanting to write about Johnny and his cupcakes for some time now. I discovered his company while reading Alternative Press back in 2006. It all started at Punk and Hardcore show in his hometown of Boston Massachusetts where Johnny began selling t-shirt bearing the a skull and bones logo but instead the skull was replace by a cupcake, thus the legend is born. What makes Johnny Cupcakes special to me is the nice graphics on his t-shirts, they touch on every subject such as sports and old school television and movies to even current movie releases and current pop culture. What's unique though is the fact that most of them are limited and reach final pressing at a fast rate due to the continuing popularity of the brand, other words his brand is a complete success. Click HERE to have a look at his website and also his very interesting blog, look at the SHOP and you'll find lots of interesting products for both men and women.

Up, up, up!!

If you haven't seen in yet then do it, I went to see Up tonight and was blown away. I'm not gonna let myself get carried away but Pixar did it again. Just the quality of the images, the looks, the small details and let's not forget about the truly original story. Always avoiding the cliches and pop-culture references, Pixar once again sets the bar up really high with their annual opus. The only dullard is the fact that next year will be Pixar's third Toy Story movie. Otherwise this movie is a jem, bring your tissue though because the first 15 minutes will.... I'll let you see for yourself

Oh and arrive early, me and the lady had a hard time to catch it in 3D and settled for the normal theatre version but I liked it so much I'd see in again but this time, in 3D!

Now I'm off to build my time machine to return 15 years ago and invest in Pixar ;-)

Prrrrrr.

Click HERE for more info on Pixar.

And enjoy the clip of Dug, a dog that we meet.
